I love Sour Dough and have always wanted to try some from San Francisco. I finally found a moment two weeks ago to get started. The instructions asked for the contents of the package to be mixed with "bread flour" but I used freshly ground whole wheat flour instead. I could not bring myself to use bleached enriched flour on it. I am so pleased with the results. Yesterday was my first trial using it and my family requested their favorite, Sour Dough English Muffins. You can find my recipe for it HERE.
Yum! They look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI actually found unbleached bread flour in the store. I couldn't believe it! Just in the "for what it's worth" column. =)
I know your daughter, but don't know you very well, but i live in tucson, and would love to share some with you!!!

Sabrina, On a totally different note----I am considering homeschooling and I am interested in your thoughts on curriculum and anything else pertaining to homeschooling that you think might help us as we research things and get started. Do you have any favorite websites or other places to look? Thanks, Julie
ReplyDeleteWell Sabrina, you just opened a can of worms! I would love some of the starter! Maybe after you renew it Brianna can shuttle some to me?
ReplyDeleteI didn't order bread from BB so that I will force myself to start baking again. Making those pennies squeal these days! Besides, as good as the Alpine Valley bread is, it just isn't the same, is it?
I remember how excited you were when you found the starter, I'm so glad you got some and that it worked out so well. Those muffins look delicious.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those muffins! Wish I were here to have some. AND, can you please share some starter with me this summer? I would love to do baking as soon as I'm out of the busy season at work. :)
ReplyDeleteWe made waffles with it this morning oh, they were so good.
