As the children and I spent the past few days decorating the tree and the house, I was taken back to the memories of Christmas's past. Christmas is a time for family and this year is my year for my married children. I am so excited.
Almost all of the decorations we have for Christmas are ones that Mar-Kay and I have made ourselves. Many years ago we were going through a financially difficult time in our lives and so that year the children and I sat and cut snowflakes to decorate the entire house, tree and all. (Most of our paper snowflakes are 17 years old.) It was such a memorable time that I have continued to use them over the years. We also hand painted all of the ornaments for our tree. Paper, wood and paint cost only pennies. We have cherished them ever since and over the years added to our "wooden collection." Here are a few of my favorites:

Looks like we're on the same wavelength with our blogs today.
ReplyDeleteYour tree is absolutely beautiful, I love the meaning behind the snowflakes. Years ago you made us a set of wooden ornaments, every year I smile when I unpack them.
I love my wooden ornaments from you guys! They are the ornaments on my tree that are special and have meaning! I think the girls and I will just have to put up our tree....it just doesn't feel like Christmas time without it. We were going to wait for daddy...but I'm sure he will understand. Arianna really wants us to put up the tree, but save the placing of the star for daddy when he comes home. I was touched by the sweetness of her thought and I think we will go with that! :)
