She performed:
Chopin's Concerto in E Minor
Opus 11
Shantell had her Concerto competition over the weekend. She was well prepared and during her scheduled warm-up time she played flawlessly. As she began the concerto she played with great skill and beauty. The first phrases were critical and she executed them with precision and ease. As she continued I was in awe at the maturity level of her playing. She played with great expression and sensitivity for a youth of her age, but it was not to be this time. Three-quarters of the way through her piece her mind went blank. She dropped out for a few bars but was able to jump back in and finish triumphantly, however the mistake cost her the competition. Shantell was devastated at first but has since realized that this was a great learning experience for her. I am pleased to say that she has already started preparing for her next upcoming competition.
Our greatest glory is not in never failing,
but in rising up every time we fail.
but in rising up every time we fail.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson~
I love the quote you shared by Emerson. It is so true. Life sends stumbling blocks...and at times it seems all you are doing is picking yourself up just in time to fall again. But as long as you keep getting up, then you will experience more joys and successes in this life. But if you simply stay down, perhaps you think it safer that way, then you will loose out on all the opportunities that lie ahead! You win some, you loose some. But Shantell, it is the times we loose that will help us appreciate and value the wins that much more. You have a great talent, and many successes that lie ahead of you! :) Love ya sis!
ReplyDeleteShantell, you are an inspiration. It is wonderful knowing someone so young who is teaching and inspiring by her example. Keep it up, your wings are growing and strengthening every day, just think where you will be able to "fly" some day!
ReplyDeleteShantell you are awesome, and the only time you fail is when you don't make an attempt. BTW the picture is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteShantell, miss you. I am so inspired by your experience. Mistakes only mean that we are going to grow even bigger after them. You are gifted and you have a wonderful family who support you so much. Keep it up! Everyone loves you!. By the way, your picture is so darling cute! Beautiful! I would cry if I am your mom. :)
