I'd love some gardening tips. This is something we've wanted to do for a while. Information such as when do you plant what, how you take care of them, etc.
As we were waiting in the Phoenix Airport a few years ago for the arrival of our eldest son from serving his mission in Hong Kong, my son Tyrone came upon this book.

This is the one of the best gardening books I have come across. I don't do anything in my garden unless I consult it first. It is packed full of essential information for the novice as well as expert gardener. There are subjects ranging from:
- Garden design
- Watering
- Soils
- Compost
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Companion planting
- Controlling pests organically
- and much much more.
One of the things I love the most about this book are the garden layouts for each specific season in the desert. Dave Owens, author of the book also know as "The Garden Guy" has a website which I follow. http://www.gardenguy.com/
If you live in the "Extreme" desert, this is the book for you.
As far as the fencing we have to protect our gardens from our puppy, we purchased them at Home Depot.
I would love to plant a garden in our back yard. Our yard is tiny, so it will have to be a small garden, but still well worth it. Maybe we could combine forces and grow different things in our yards. Together we could keep our families healthy and prepared for difficult times! What do you think of that idea mom?
ReplyDeleteI have both of his books and love them! That is the guide that I am trying to set up in our back yard with. . . maybe now?? I miss his shows too.
