May I Go Back Please?

Well it has been 10 long days for Mar-Kell. Even though he has loved being surrounded by his family again, he has asked four times if he could go back and continue serving in his mission. He loved every minute of it. It truly was the best two years of his life.

There is a lot of down time when a missionary arrives home. They are use to having every minute planned out with things to do, places to go and service to render. Once they return home their routine they have known for the past two years is changed drastically. Mar-Kell still rises early and runs, prays, and studies in preparation for his day. But there are no appointments, no street contacting, no lessons to be taught. There are no missionaries calling with problems, no paper work to fill out, no reports to receive. Instead he is on a job hunt and with things as they are, it might be a while. Good news is that he has his first interview on Monday. He is also registered for school and seeking for opportunities to keep busy. I love having Mar-Kell home! He has always been our comic relief and we have missed that. We have seen a tremendous amount of growth on his part. He set such a wonderful example through his hard work, dedication and service. We love to sit and listen as he shares his mission with us.
Sorry Mar-Kell, there is no going back.
It is time to press on and continue moving forward.

  1. He can't go back to his mission, but he can come back to SF. He is welcome to visit us anytime.

  2. Just remind him that this life is full of many missions! In fact, his entire life could be viewed as one BIG mission. Education, seeking a career, Marriage, Family, the list goes on. And the missions become more and more important as you progress through life. Some day, as a husband and father he will understand this better. For now, I know you will do a great job of keeping him busy and on the right track. It is summer, but I still rise hours and hours earlier then everyone else and try to get work done that would be hard to do with little helping hands all around me. It feels good to be active and busy! You did a great job of teaching me that. :) Keep him going. He will be great in this next portion of his life's mission!

  3. Please let Mar-Kell know that he is busy being a great example to my sons and all the young boys in our ward. Peter has mentioned several times how awesome Kendrick's brother is, and I think it is fabulous that he is willing to spend time with the youth. Thank you for your wonderful example Mar-Kell.
